9.1 The iodine production sites
Surakhany and Ramany production sites of Baku Iodine Plant were located in vicinity of settlements with the same name and threatened health and welfare of people. Another former production plant was located in the vicinity of Mirgurbanly settlement in the area near the former "Neftechalaneft" company.
- Dose rate of gamma radiation on territories of the production sites was in the range : 0.15 - 7.0 μSv/h
- Specific activities of 226Ra in different solid samples (charcoal, soil, scale, lake sediments): 10 - 13000 Bq/kg
- Specific activities of 228Ra in different solid samples (charcoal, soil, scale, lake sediments): 1 - 3000 Bq/kg
- Concentration of oil products in soil: 170 - 650 mg/kg
- Background pollution of industrial areas on Absheron Peninsula by oil products: up to 100 mg/kg
